Quality of education - one of the central themes of the X Congress of the Russian Union of Rectors11.11.14
On 30th of October X Congress of the Russian Union of Rectors was held at the University of Moscow, which was attended by Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation.In his speech, the President of Russia raised the issues of improving the quality of education in Russia. Addressing to the participants of the congress, he said in part: "I am convinced that higher education needs more transparency, we need clear mechanisms that encourage change. And here a serious role can be played by the introduction of objective quality assessment of learning - both internal, departmental, and independent ones. In this regard, in May the following instructions were given to the Government, the Ministry of Education and Science:
"I believe that the Union of Rectors must also connect to its implementation. People are tuning in to your authoritative opinion in the regions and at the federal level. You know better than anyone else how to organize this work most effectively and sensitively, you know what to do to the make the grading system, including independent one, informal, informative, unbiased and bringing real benefits to this sector. The results of quality evaluation of training should be taken into account when deciding on the state accreditation of the institution". Viktor Sadovnichiy, Rector of Moscow State University, when opening the Х Congress of the Russian Union of Rectors, called the event the most important one not only for the educational community, but for the life of the country. "Education - is one of the most important factors, the key factor that provides a decent life for our future and competitive, sustainable development of our country", said the Rector of Moscow State University.
Members of the Congress discussed the development of the higher education system in the country, in particular measures aimed at improving the quality of education and strengthening the material-technical base of universities, as well as support for science in high school. At the congress Dmitry Livanov, Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, was present, and the congress was attended by Vyacheslav Nikonov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education.
